marco bernardi marks his second outing on the dirty planet imprint with a 4 track ep bursting with emotion and originality. >i feel the lies< has a more laid back approach with deep and trippy grooves and evolving acidy stabs which are complimented with the unassuming and neatly placed vocal of detroit legend and aux88 founder keith tucker, making it one of those truly >special< tracks. second track >giro< (exium remix) is directed more towards the harder techno fans keeping the arrangement simple and the kick big and bold, this excellent remix has seen early support from surgeon with him choosing to feature it on the recently released fabric53 mix cd. flipping the record over sees two tracks exploring different sounds and moods. >msry< builds pace surrounded by an array of atmosphere, hissing percussion and lush detroit sounding synths where as killer track >giro< is a raw, off beat, electro monster laced with acid sequences and dirty bass.

dole & kom are coming up with their first vinyl ep on 3rd wave music. a pure lesson of deep and jacking detroit and chicago influenced house music. 1993 founded dole & kom dj team at berlin based delirium record store. played sets at legendary berlin underground clubs tresor (residency), e-werk, bunker, wmf... in the following years they played dj gigs and live acts all over germany, europe and the united states. first productions on legendary berlin based label formaldehyd as clubheroes. biggest success dum dum on relief/ chicago (remix by green velvet) & lost piano on sony. the 12 smoke monster came on bondage music in april 2009 and dole & kom teamed up with the plastic fm on ostwind ltd 014 which hitted nr. 5 in carl craigs summer charts.

not many single releases can be labelled as events, especially not in the ever homogenised techno world, but the first single from model 500 in eleven years, and the first recorded by the new band line up is most definitely an event.
its only fitting that this single is released on r&s records, whose relationship with the man widely acknowledged as the originator of detroit techno goes back 17 years and who released the last model 500 album back in 1999.

detroit artist jason fine is back with a follow up to his critically acclaimed future thought album. the master of the introspective and personal techno sound gives us another killer release, once again transforming daily life experience into beautiful and moving deep techno and house. jason fine continues to play around with layered melodies and harmony mixed with raw and funky drum programming. the ep opens with the track orange, a beautiful monotone organ based techno track, revealing hard times. violet continues in the same vein. blue melodies play around over minor organ chords and heavy kick drum. on the inner tracks blue and red jason with confidence moves into the electro territory, still keeping emotion and atmosphere up front. even though the concept behind this ep is the full color spectrum, the mood is all over blue.

the b.t.s are a detroit deep house live act crew. this is there first release in the world. the ex-member of underground resistance, derwin hall bang the dam walls down with this groove. this remake track with the late ron banks vox sample >treat me like man< is a detroit killer! derwin had some extra production on the drums by delano smith. this track is so hot, me (eddie fowlkes) and my momma had to get this for the cityboy music. what a great track for their first release.the black exterrestrials come back with >the journey< on the flip side. this deep minimal soul house groove has that element of a underground banger with euro flavor - with lead vocal by angie sexy ass!

charlton ravenberg is the dutch artist who signs the 4th great m_rec ltds vinyl. in this ep he has 4 tracks where he shows his full potential. in tracks such as >basterd< and >slow down< creates trip slow and hypnotic. in tracks like >backwards< and >forwards< trips are a little more techno with detroit school influences. its a release that will sure know more about the label and the artist for its modernity and its substance. big!

finally, the live virtuoso olene kadar is back again with release #4 on his homebase mos ferry! not only the really massive kick makes the a-side >deal< a true stomper, that might put a smile on every detroit fans face also a guy called gerald would be thrilled! kadar uses common sounds and styles to stack his own unconventional sound-building - his own >house<. driving is probably the adjective that can express most accurately what constitutes the eight and a half minutes track with its funky organ chords. the b-side >sot:2< contains an equally virtuoso ass-shaker. somewhere between industrial aesthetics of the reverberated snare and the indefinable squawking sound its elements combine into a multi-dimensional piece of >club therapy< full of extremes. the unity of groovy kick and bass constitutes a high contrast to the vast extending percussion that moves at times in dramatic and absurd dimensions. approaching the drop, the almost out of control snare rolls and percussion drown any crowd in their own sweat dripping from the ceiling.

michigan central station built in 1913 for the michigan central railroad, was detroit, michigans passenger rail depot from its opening in 1913 until the discontinuance of amtrak service on january 6, 1988. at the time of its construction, it was the tallest rail station in the world. the building, located in the corktown district of detroit still stands today, though it remains unoccupied. restoration projects and plans have gone as far as the negotiation process, but none have come to fruition. spread throughout the city of detroit and its surrounding metropolitan area, the decay of once magnificent buildings during the industrial revolution and automobile era now cast a shadow of despair on a once flourishing city. these monuments of achievement now lay barren and forsaken by city government. infrastructural restoration and city development are fundamental elements in detroits recovery, and the recovery of cities worldwide. it is time for revival in our cities, but first, in our souls. the michigan central station ep is a platform for this change.
